Photographs of Ceylon, 1860 to 1910. Albumen prints and albums by Joseph Lawton, W.L.H. Skeen & Co., Charles Scowen & Co., and the Colombo Apothecaries Co. Lawton's views of Kandy and Anuradhapura are the standing priority.

Documents and autographs of Sri Lanka's history. Letters or documents of the British Governors of Ceylon, especially anything written from the island. Signed material of the independence generation: D.S. Senanayake, Dudley Senanayake, Sir John Kotelawala, S.W.R.D. and Sirimavo Bandaranaike, J.R. Jayewardene. Material of Henry Steel Olcott and Anagarika Dharmapala. Thomas Lipton correspondence with Ceylon content.

Early maps and printed accounts of the island. Taprobana and Ceilon maps from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries (Ortelius, Münster, Bertius, and their successors), and early travel accounts from Knox to Tennent and Haeckel.

Victorian illustrated press. Complete issues of the Illustrated London News and The Graphic covering the 1870 and 1875–76 royal visits to Ceylon.

Small scientific and technical objects with a Ceylon connection. Survey, plantation, and navigation instruments that worked on or around the island.
